In this talk, Inti is revealing his RFC research playbook and will discuss some of his recent finds. As an ethical hacker, Inti hunts down security vulnerabilities in companies like Facebook, Google, Dropbox and the US Department of Defense. In 2018, Inti was awarded the ‘Most Valuable Hacker’ award, one of the most prestigious titles an ethical hacker can receive.

Our digital society depends on our digital critical infrastructures, like datacenters. Without datacenters, our digital society will end. Streefland will show the audience the attack surface and the cybersecurity insights of these datacenters, who mostly depend on Operational Technology (OT). A cyberattack on IT systems can be very annoying , especially when it involves ransomware, but a cyberattack on OT systems can result into significant damage to our digital society, with a loss of lives as a worst case scenario. The goal of this keynote is not to ‘scare’, but to make people aware of this critical infrastructure issue.

Zero trust is a security model that is based on the idea that nothing should be trusted by default. In contrast to the traditional “castle and moat” security model, which focuses on securing the perimeter, zero trust focuses on identity and access verification for each user or system that attempts to access a network, much like airport security. The “airport model” is a nice example of how zero trust can be implemented. It requires users to authenticate themselves at each stage of the journey, from the airport entrance to the aircraft.

Ubiquitous SSL traffic presents a significant challenge for security administrators. Securing the contents of encrypted channels presents technical, logistical, compliance and ethical problems when intercepting and decrypting traffic, which often leads businesses to reject solutions which would otherwise increase their security posture. In this session, we’ll talk about an alternative – how AI/ML can be used to detect SSL-borne threats based on heuristics and metadata, without decrypting traffic, maximizing threat mitigation while minimizing operational overhead.
