Cybersec Europe expands Tech Theatre
Following its successful introduction last year, the Tech Theatre at Cybersec Europe is set for a significant expansion. During the 20 and 21 May edition at Brussels Expo, the technical stage will once again serve as the central meeting point for security professionals and engineers, this time with a substantial increase in seating capacity. NATO and start-ups presenting their pitches will also be part of the programme.
The Tech Theatre – also referred to as the Tech Stage – is designed for professionals seeking in-depth knowledge. While the main stage at Cybersec Europe focuses on strategy, policy and vision, the Tech Theatre zooms in on technical reality: how attacks work, where systems fail, and how to secure them more effectively in practice.
This approach complements the programme on the main stage. “Cybersecurity is, of course, about strategy and governance, but just as much about execution,” emphasises William Visterin, programme manager of Cybersec Europe and one of the hosts of the Tech Theatre.
First speakers announced
Once again, the programme will consist of 30-minute technical tracks with room for interaction. The first speakers and themes have already been announced. Sarah Ampe, cryptography and PKI expert at EY (and also Young Cyber Security Professional of the Year), will deliver a keynote and demo on quantum security.
Another speaker is Yves Van Seters, valorisation manager at the Antwerp Maritime Academy. He will focus on cybersecurity in the maritime sector and the specific risks of digital systems on board ships. A third confirmed name is Loïc Lejoly, data scientist and MLOps engineer at Keiro, who will explore the role of artificial intelligence in security.
Also noteworthy: on day one, NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) will host three morning sessions in the Tech Theatre, including one by Arsen Fazlovic, Head of Industry Relations at NCIA – the NATO Communications and Information Agency.
Start-ups
New this year is the addition of start-up pitches in the Tech Theatre on day one. Young companies will have the opportunity to briefly present their technology and technical approach—not only to the security professionals in the audience, but above all to the expert jury, which will select the winner of the Computable Award for Tech & Cyber Start-up of the Year on the spot.
With the expansion of the Tech Theatre, Cybersec Europe underlines its ambition to give in-depth technical expertise a fully-fledged place alongside strategic insights. Start-ups, too, will have the opportunity to share their story. The full programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
